The 3 by 5 Team has been set up in the HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Cluster. It will co-ordinate planning and actions with WHO’s clusters, regional and country offices, country governments, UNAIDS and other global partners, organizations and civil society groups. It is a new initiative, supported by the 3 by 5 Task Force, under the Director-General and Assistant Directors-General.

The 3 by 5 initiative places the country at the centre of implementation. Each country will also have a 3 by 5 full time person, based either in the national government or local WHO office. The first 3 by 5 country support staff should be in place early in 2004.

3 by 5 Working Groups

10 Working Groups focus on specific technical issues, to ensure effective sharing, lesson learning and problem solving along crosscutting themes and across organisations. As the 3 by 5 Initiative evolves, the Working Groups will themselves evolve and may be restructured to reflect contemporary needs.
