Life course perspectives on coronary heart disease, stroke and diabetes
Overview
The Life Course and Health Perspective considers chronic disease in terms of the social and physical hazards, and the consequent biological, behavioural and psychosocial processes, that operate across all stages of the life span to cause or modify risk of disease. This perspective carries a substantial potential for identifying the most appropriate and effective policies for NCD prevention and health promotion—a potential that is yet to be fully realized in public health policy.
