Centre for Systematic Reviews on the Non-state sector, Bangladesh

Hosted at the Health Systems and Infectious Diseases Division (HSID) at ICDDR,B the Centre in Bangladesh has been focusing on the non-state sector. In its first two years, the Centre has published several reviews and engaged in numerous capacity building initiatives. It held a panel discussion on Future Health Systems to build awareness among scientists at ICDDR,B of health systems research and policy issues and needs across low- and middle-income countries. The Centre authored a report entitled, The Effect of Social Franchising on Access to and Quality of Health Services in Low- and Middle-Income Countries, which was accepted for publication in the Cochrane Systematic Review Database. The Centre has also authored a Social Franchising Scoping Review.

In the third year of this Centre, the Bangladesh team proposes to engage in high-level dissemination and engagement with systematic review groups and health systems research leaders. The main review efforts of this year will focus on the successful and timely completion of a second Cochrane Review on The Impact of Community Mobilization on Safe Motherhood.
