Technical Consultative Committee (TCC)
The Technical Consultative Committee (TCC) advises the APOC Director on technical, implementation and broad policy issues. The Committee also:
- reviews new national plans and project proposals
- reviews annual technical reports of projects
- reviews operational research proposals submitted by the national onchocerciasis task forces (NOTFs)
- contributes to establishing the APOC-supported research agenda
- discusses any relevant subject of interest relating to onchocerciasis control in Africa.
The TCC meets at least once a year. Its recommendations are addressed to the APOC Director or, if required, to the Committee of Sponsoring Agents (CSA) through the APOC Director.
Membership
The TCC has 12 members:
- eleven scientists and experts appointed by the WHO Director-General
- one representative of the Mectizan Donation Program, appointed by Merck & Co., Inc. (the ivermectin donor).
Members serve for a period of three years, renewable for a maximum of three further years.
