Onchocerciasis status
Early mapping of onchocerciasis in Mozambique showed that the disease was present in a few areas, but at low, hypo-endemic levels. Mozambique was not therefore considered a priority area for the APOC strategy of mass ivermectin treatment, but was encouraged to establish clinic-based treatment.
