Year 2007 progress report of WHO/APOC
Overview
This report presents the achievements and challenges of APOC from September 2006 to August 2007. Highlights include:
- the achievements of communities and the national onchcocerciasis task forces (NOTFs) in delivering ivermectin and other health interventions using the community-directed treatment (CDTI ) approach
- capacity building in countries
- sustainability of the CDTI approach, including monitoring the implementation of CDTI sustainability plans
- the special initiative on the collection and management of CDTI data from community level,
- Integration of onchocerciasis control in national health systems and co-implementation of multiple interventions
- Development and implementation of country plans on APOC exit
- the support of the Technical Consultative Committee
- the contribution of non-governmental development organizations (NGDOs) to onchocerciasis control.
