Overview

This document presents proposals for the organizational, operational and administrative components of APOC for phase II and the phasing-out periods of activities. It includes a detailed plan of action accompanied by the corresponding budgetary forecasts.

Given the success of the community-directed treatment (CDTI) strategy, the document confirms that CDTI will remain the principal strategy to control onchocerciasis during phase II and the phasing-out periods. Renewed emphasis will be placed on ensuring sustainability by the endemic communities and countries through their health systems.
