A pilot experiment was carried out at the mental health centre of Aro in Nigeria. Patients in Aro have complete freedom of movement and remain in touch with the community.
An eye examination is part of the general check-up psychiatric patients undergo. The condition of the eye may reveal a disorder located in the brain.
