Sources available in the Archives
Plague has been described since antiquity. It has been the cause of major historic epidemics and is now considered to be a re-emerging disease in the world. It is a notifiable disease subject to the International Health Regulations. The archives conserve documents on this disease, which are available in the following fonds:

Archives of the Office International d'Hygiène Publique (OIHP)
Between 1910 and 1924, OIHP adopted measures to control plague. For further information, consult the inventory. -
Centralized files
The "Centralized files" contain documents concerning plague: correspondence, documentation, expert committee, surveys, information from countries, vaccination, etc. For further information, consult the contents of the inventories of the sub-fonds. -
"Project Files" Archives
This fonds contains a number of documents relating to plague control in several countries from the 1950s to the 1970s, and in particular Brazil, India and Ecuador. -
Photographic Archives, Sub-fonds Photographs
This sub-fonds contains photographs on plague in the different WHO Regions: Asia, the Americas and the Eastern Mediterranean. For further information, consult the list of photographs by subject.
