Sources available in the Archives

Water is a topic that reveals different health-related problems. WHO has always been aware of the issues that revolve around water, and evidence of this is to be found in the records held in different fonds:

  • Archives of the Office International d'Hygiène Publique (OIHP)
    OIHP concerned itself with water purification from 1918, and studies and instructions relating to tests have been conserved. For further information, consult the inventory.
  • Centralized files
    The "Centralized files" contain archives on water supply and pollution. For further information, consult the contents of the inventories of the sub-fonds.
  • "Project Files" Archives
    This fonds contains numerous documents relating to water supply from the WHO Regional Offices. It is a valuable resource covering the Organization's activity in different countries in the world.
  • Photographic Archives, Sub-fonds Photographs
    This sub-fonds contains photographs on water in the different WHO regions: Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Western Pacific. For further information, consult the list of photographs by subject.
