The Bulletin series: ageing and health
The Bulletin highlights ageing and health -- the theme of World Health Day 2012 -- in a new series of articles
The proportion of people aged over 60 years is growing faster than any other age group in most countries. But while population ageing is a success story for public health policies and for socioeconomic development, it throws up many challenges, such as social adaptation, health care funding and sustainability of health and care systems. This series of three WHO Bulletin articles is devoted to the ageing and health, the theme of World Health Day 2012. The series looks at these challenges and how countries are finding solutions.
