The first hours of life are the most dangerous
This photograph, taken by David Seymour in France in 1953, shows how fragile prematurely-born babies are. Premature birth is a common and serious problem around the world. WHO had helped to train doctors and nurses in the highly specialized techniques of caring for these tiny babies.
