Technical consultation on national profiles on status of children's environmental health in the WHO Africa Region, Cape Town, South Africa, 4-6 February 2004
An informal consultation on National Profiles on the Status of Children’s Environmental Health (CEH) was organized from 4th to 6th February 2004 by the WHO Regional Office for Africa in order to review, assess and discuss the results of the pilot assessments in six countries and plan future activities. The event was hosted by the Medical Research Council (MRC) of South Africa and organized with the support of the Department on the Protection of the Human Environment in WHO/HQ and contribution of Swedish funds.
The objective of the meeting was to review the national profiles on children’s environmental health and to foster greater understanding of the relationship between environmental exposures and health outcomes among children within the region. The Global Initiative on Children's Environmental Health Indicators was presented and the newly published, Making a difference: Indicators to Improve Children's Environmental Health was introduced for the first time.
