Virtual Health Library (VHL)

Virtual Health Library (VHL) gives online access to scientific and technical health information and serves as a database on noncommunicable diseases containing journal articles, books, technical and scientific reports, as well as bibliographic references.

PAHO/BIREME

The following are VHLs related to chronic diseases and health promotion:

Ageing and health

This VHL provides access to scientific literature, governmental documents, educational materials, websites, and health terminology on ageing and health. Available in Spanish only.

Cervical cancer

This VHL provides access to scientific literature, bibliographic databases, communities, and websites on cervical cancer. Available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Noncommunicable diseases (mainly diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer)

This VHL provides access to scientific literature, bibliographic databases, full text selected documents, and websites on noncommunicable diseases. Available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Youth health

This VHL provides access to scientific literature, policies, information on a distance learning project, directories, websites and terminology on youth health. Available in Spanish only.

Other VHLs

The PAHO BIREME website provides access to "VHL themes", such as bioethics, public health, sciences and health, "VHL countries", and developing initiatives at national and regional level as well as virtual communities.
