Access to reliable health information

The Institute for Medical Information, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMICAMS) in Beijing is China's National Center of Medical Information Research and Biomedical Information Resources, the Medical Library of the National Science and Technology and the Center for Health Policy and Management of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College. It has been a WHO CC for health and biomedical information since 3 January 1991, and was most recently re-designated in January 2008 . The Centre's collaborators act as focal points for all knowledge management initiatives and projects of WHO in China, such as the Global Health Library (GHL) and the Western Pacific Region Index Medicus (WPRIM). The Institute hosts and maintains the WPRIM website and database. As part of their tasks to promote national and regional networking among medical libraries and documentation centres in China, they organize and conduct national and international training courses, workshops and seminars on health literature and library services, publishing and translation of health information products. They also maintain a webpage for all WHO collaborating centres in China.
