Supporting research ethics education in Latin America and the Caribbean

The University of Miami’s WHO Collaborating Center on Ethics and Global Health Policy is responsible for several research ethics initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean. Since the designation as a Collaborating Center in 2008, the center has organized and co-sponsored more than 20 workshops, seminars and discussions on human subject protection and the responsible conduct of research in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Honduras, Mexico and Peru. These activities are offered in conjunction with governmental bodies such as the social security administration in Costa Rica, the National Bioethics Commission and the National Institute of Genomics in Mexico and the Planning Secretariat for Foreign Assistant in Honduras; and educational institutions
