Recovery toolkit
9 May 2016 -- The Recovery Toolkit is a library of guidance resources in a single place to support countries in the reactivation of health services which may have suffered as a result of the emergency. These services include ongoing programmes such as immunization and vaccinations, maternal and child health services, and noncommunicable diseases.
Rebuilding health systems
The 2014 Ebola outbreak hit already fragile health systems in West Africa and strained them beyond their limits. As resources were directed towards fighting the outbreak, other health services such as malaria treatment, vaccinations and primary medical consultations suffered. Recovering from Ebola requires getting essential health services back up and running in a safe and reliable way, and addressing the weaknesses of the system. WHO is supporting Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone on the road to recovery.
Recovery from the front lines
Recovering from the outbreak is requiring national governments to drive the safe reactivation of essential health services within the context of ongoing response activities. The three levels of WHO have taken a proactive leadership role in supporting the affected countries as they developed their post-Ebola health system recovery and resilience-building plans.
