Cases of fever of unknown origin continue to occur. Laboratory samples have been taken for examination. The clinical picture of many cases is compatible with borreliosis. Three cases were confirmed by microscopy in the field. Louse infestation is widespread. Bloody diarrhoea cases have also been seen and were confirmed as shigellosis. The WHO team will be conducting a training course for NGOs to establish a treatment and control programme.
