2002 - Yellow fever in Senegal

As of 18 January 2002, WHO has received reports from the Ministry of Health, Senegal, of 18 cases of yellow fever in Diourbel and Ziguinchor regions. These cases have been laboratory confirmed by the Institut Pasteur, Dakar.   Following investigations by the Senegalese authorities and WHO, arrangements for a mass vaccination campaign in the affected regions are in place and surveillance in the area is being reinforced.
