2002 - Meningococcal disease in Burkina Faso - Update

Disease Outbreak Reported
As of 3 March, WHO has reported a total of 1 874 cases and 329 deaths in the country since the outbreak began in December 2001. In addition to the district of Diebougou (see previous report) the districts of Pama, Pissy and Yako have reached the epidemic threshold. A mass vaccination campaign is in progress in Diebougou, Pissy, Yako.
