Former Acting Director-General: Dr Anders Nordström

Dr Anders Nordström was the Acting Director-General of WHO from 23 May 2006 until 3 January 2007. He was appointed to this post by the WHO Executive Board following the sudden death of Dr LEE Jong-wook, Director-General, on 22 May 2006.
Before being appointed Acting Director-General, Dr Nordström had been WHO Assistant Director-General for General Management since July 2003.
Prior to joining WHO, he was heavily engaged in the global health policy dialogue with a special focus on health systems and human resource issues.
