Dr V Mohan
Dr Mohan is the Chairman and Chief of Diabetology, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre, Chennai and President of the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation in Gopalapuram, Chennai, India. He is a Visiting Professor of Diabetology at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai.
He completed his M.D. Medicine in 1981; a Ph.D. in 1987, a Doctor of Science D.Sc. in 1997 and holds many fellowships over the years, including the recently awarded Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians FRCP (UK) in 2005 and Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons, FRCP (Glasgow) in 2006.
He has written over 300 publications in epidemiology of diabetes and its complications with particular reference to cardiovascular disease. Furthermore Dr Mohan is the recipient of many awards from various international and national organizations including the prestigious Dr. B.C. Roy Award from the Medical Council of India, and Government of India, the highest award for a medical doctor in India. He currently serves on several committees of the Department of Science & Technology, Indian Council of Medical Research, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and on various Task Forces and consultations of the World Health Organization.
