Diabetes Programme

Diabetes Action Now

Diabetes Action Now is a joint programme of the World Health Organization and the International Diabetes Federation which provides information and tools to support the implementation of the Diabetes Programme.

It is supported by a World Diabetes Foundation Grant to IDF and WHO funds for an initial period of three years.

The overall goal is to raise awareness about diabetes and its complications, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, and to stimulate effective measures for the surveillance, prevention and control of diabetes. For the initial 3-year period of Diabetes Action Now, five key areas of activity have been identified.
Key areas of activity

A variety of activities are planned to implement the goals of Diabetes Action Now.

These five areas of activity for Diabetes Action Now were decided upon after a period of consultation with a broad range of potential partners.
Consultation process

The Diabetes Action Now booklet was designed to communicate key messages about diabetes in a clear, easily accessible format. It is available online in English as well as for download in English, French and Spanish.
