Diagnostics and Laboratory Technology

Equipment and consumables procurement scheme

In addition to procurement of test kits and reagents, WHO is also able to offer basic equipment and laboratory consumables that are required but not provided with diagnostic test kits:

ELISA equipment

Certain equipment is vital in optimal performance of ELISA assays and is suitable for laboratories with a medium through-put (30-50 samples per day):

  • ELISA plate washers
  • ELISA plate readers
  • Plate incubators
Laboratory consumables

In some WHO member states access to appropriate consumables is limited/unavailable or at a high cost. In this instance, WHO is able to facilitate procurement of essential consumables such as:

  • Blood collection tubes
  • Pipettes & tips
  • Plastic tubes for specimen storage
Other Laboratory equipment and reagents

Large pieces of general laboratory equipment are also available in order to facilitate laboratory quality, plus a wide range of commonly-used laboratory reagents:

  • Centrifuges
  • Microscopes
  • Refrigerators & freezers
  • Weighing balances
