Procurement of HIV diagnostics
HIV test kits procured by WHO, by assay type, 1999-2009
The proportion of HIV test kits procured has been increasingly dominated by the rapid test format. In 2000, 56% of the tests procured were rapid tests. This percentage peaked at 96% in 2007, but remained high at 81% in 2009.
The majority of HIV test kit procurement in 2009 occurred on behalf of WHO member states in the South-East Asia region.
