External quality assessment schemes for blood coagulation

The WHO EQAS for Blood Coagulation is distributed to over 160 laboratories in 29 WHO member states by the WHO Collaborating Centre based within the UK National External Quality Assessment Scheme (UKNEQAS) located at Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, UK.

The purpose of the scheme is to assess laboratory capability to perform tests if blood coagulation and other tests of haemostasis. Each survey comprises samples for Prothrombin, Time Determination, Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time, Fibrinogen, FDP, Factor II, VII, IX, XII, VIII, Cassay, Von Willebrand Factor, Protein C, Protein S and Heparin among others.

The scheme offers support in the form of trouble-shooting for all participating laboratories.
