The Commission on Ending Childhood Obesity is being co-chaired by Sir Peter David Gluckman, Chief Science Advisor to the Prime Minister of New Zealand, and Dr Sania Nishtar, the founder and President of Heartfile.
The work of the Commission will be supported by two working groups. One group will examine all available evidence on prevention of childhood obesity and how to reverse it in affected children; and determine the best combination of policies to put in place to achieve these goals.
The second group will determine how to monitor achievements in tackling childhood obesity worldwide and track results. Their work will form the basis of the report of the Commission, which will be delivered to the WHO Director-General in early 2015 so that she can convey its recommendations to the 2015 World Health Assembly.
