Victim’s assistance and community-based rehabilitation (CBR)

From 29-30 November during the Tenth Meeting of the States Parties (10MSP) of the Anti-Personnel Landmines Convention held in Geneva, Switzerland, a parallel programme on victim’s assistance was dedicated to community-based rehabilitation (CBR). The meeting was well attended by Member States and international organizations including organizations of landmine victims. Different sessions over one and a half days helped to familiarize participants with the various components of the Community-based rehabilitation (CBR) guidelines and how they can use them to start or strengthen CBR programmes for victims of landmines. The participants outlined a tentative action plan including translation of the guidelines into regional languages, setting up or strengthening programmes in some of the Member States based on the guidelines and a follow up meeting to review the impact of the parallel session.
