Disabilities and rehabilitation

Call for papers: special issue of Disability and Rehabilitation in summer 2012

Following the launch of the World report on disability, the journal Disability and Rehabilitation is inviting contributions to a special issue.

In particular, papers are encouraged which contribute to addressing the research gaps outlined in the report:

  • the impact of environmental factors (policies, physical environment, attitudes) on disability and how to measure it;
  • measures of the lived experience of people with disabilities coupled with measures on quality of life and well-being;
  • what works in overcoming service barriers in different contexts;
  • the effectiveness and outcomes of rehabilitation services and programmes; and
  • the cost–effectiveness of public spending on disability programmes.

Research should be grounded in the human rights approach to disability and wherever possible, reflect the active participation of persons with disabilities.

The deadline for submission of primary research papers is January 15 and the special issue will be published one year after the launch of the World report on disability.
