EVIPNet Eastern Mediterranean Region

Background

WHO launched EVIPNet Eastern Mediterranean Region - the regional network of WHO-sponsored evidence-to-policy partnerships potentialy in 13 Eastern Mediterranean countries on January 28-29, 2009 at a successful workshop held at WHO EMRO HQ in Beirut, Lebanon. This meeting brought together senior health policy-makers and researchers from 13 countries in Eastern Mediterranean Region. In the current initial planning phase of EVIPNet-EMR, countries create their concept for partnerships between researchers and policy-makers; develop their teams; and host workshops in each country to identify priorities. EVIPNet EMR can trace its origins to local inspiration and resulting preparatory work that led to the establishment of evidence-informed appraoch in policy-making with Qazvin University of Medical Sciences, Iran.

The next step is to establish EVIPNet Eastern Mediterranean Region Steering Group and to encourage and assist Member States in establishment national EVIPNet.
