Health Canada to fund workshop on international trade and tobacco control issues
Health Canada has approved funding under its International Health Grants Program for a two-day workshop organized by the Secretariat on international trade and tobacco control issues. The workshop will be held in support of the decision taken at the fourth session of the Conference of the Parties (FCTC/COP4(18)) on the need to promote cooperation and understanding on trade-related tobacco-control issues. Public health and international trade representatives at Permanent Missions in Geneva will be invited to participate. The goal is to increase capacity among policy-makers and other stakeholders with a view to supporting Parties in effectively implementing the Convention without adverse consequences in light of international trade and investment agreements.
