Online registration for meetings of the Conference of the Parties to the WHO FCTC

Online registration is now required for sessions of the Conference of the Parties (COP) and its subsidiary bodies. For each meeting, the registration of a focal point is required.

Process

Before each meeting, an invitation will be sent to Parties and observers accredited to the COP providing a link, username and password to enable one focal point to register through the online registration system. The focal point will be responsible for registering the entire delegation. A note verbale (official diplomatic note prepared on headed paper, dated, signed, and/or stamped) or an official signed letter from the capital or the organization, as the case may be, that officially designates the focal point, needs to be uploaded in the registration system to enable registration to be accepted.

To facilitate communication, the focal point should preferably be based at the Permanent Mission in Geneva. Parties and States non-Parties which do not have a Permanent Mission in Geneva should designate a focal point in the capital.

Once a focal point has registered through the online registration system, he/she will receive by e-mail a unique username and password and a link to enable the focal point to register the names of the delegation. The focal point will also need to upload a note verbale, or an official letter from the capital or the organization containing the composition of the delegation (i.e. the credentials of the delegation). The Convention Secretariat will verify the information received from the focal point, which if complete will then be used to generate both meeting badges and the list of participants.
