United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland – Vending machine sales banned in England

Since 1 October 2011 it has been illegal to sell tobacco through vending machines in England. The Department of Health previously estimated that 35 million cigarettes were being sold illegally through vending machines to children aged under 18 in England every year. The new legislation was upheld and found lawful by the Courts in England following legal challenges by the tobacco industry.
