United Arab Emirates – Pictorial warnings required on cigarette and shisha products
December 2012 - Five graphic images — three for cigarettes and two for shisha products – have been introduced in the United Arab Emirates.
In October 2011, the Government approved an anti-tobacco federal law that stipulated the use of graphic warning images covering half of cigarette and shisha product packets. The regulation to implement new standards for tobacco products is also enforced at the Gulf Cooperation Council level. The new graphic warnings have been mandatory on products since August 2012.
