Miriame’s illnesses forced her to stop working as a farmer in her small village of Natete, Uganda. She was sent to a private hospital, which soon depleted her life savings. Around the world, poor people like Miriame are much more likely than the wealthy to develop chronic diseases and to suffer more as a result.
