In this remote region of central DRC, logistical challenges are immense. The town of Mweka is only 230 km from Kananga, the provincial capital of Kasai Occidental, but due to bad road conditions it can take more than10 hours to cover the distance by car. In Luebo, a small airstrip can be used for a three-hour flight from Kinshasa, but only small planes can land and take off. The arrival of the rainy season further threatens the fragile transport infrastructure.
