The WHO Regional Office for Africa has been working with countries in the region to train health workers in disease surveillance and response, especially for epidemic-prone diseases. This has helped in early detection and notification of suspected Marburg cases. Here, Dr Emmanuel Byaruhanga (left), Medical Superintendent of Ibanda Hospital and Dr Florimond Tshioko from WHO gather information from a patient.
