A team of experts from WHO, CDC and the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) in South Africa went to the mining area in search of the Marburg virus reservoir. After an extensive survey of the mine, where the outbreak started, the team trapped and captured the bats who leave the cave at dusk every day in search of food and water.
