Dr Nicholas Eseko from the WHO Regional Office for Africa is part of the epidemiology team investigating early Ebola cases to uncover the source of the outbreak. Although many patients reported exposure to wildlife (monkeys, jackals, duikers etc.), the origin of the virus has not been ascertained. Epidemiological and ecological investigations are continuing.
