Stevens and clinic nurse manager Lillian Pirog discuss Berrian's condition. At the practice, all TB patients are cared for by a public health representative, a nurse manager and clinic nurses, with examination by a physician as needed. Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course (DOTS) is arranged for patients at their first appointment. Some come to the clinic for treatment, but most receive their medications at their home or workplace. Anti-TB drugs and medical care are provided free for people with no insurance.
