Cyclone Nargis, Myanmar: delta disease surveillance

Many villages had been completely destroyed including their health centres, which in some cases, had resulted in the deaths of health care workers. Shelter, food, safe water, sanitation and access to health services were severely limited and increased exposure to disease vectors like mosquitoes, increased the risk of vector-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria.
