Disease monitoring

A laboratory worker examines a blood smear taken from a displaced person with suspected malaria. The sample, taken at Sheikh Yaseen camp, tested negative. WHO has set up surveillance and early warning systems for disease outbreaks in camps and host communities. So far, 33 potential outbreaks have been detected and controlled.
