This is the frontier bridge over the Prince Ali Gorge, which is the traditional crossing place for the Kurds at the time of their massive migrations between Iraq and northern Persia. It is at the mouth of this gorge that Dr Malaria waits for night-fall and the coming of the nomadic tribes.
