Blindness avoided for millions of children

An ophthalmologist examines the eyes of a baby being held by her mother, Iran.

In a clinic in Iran, an ophthalmologist performs a simple, non-invasive eye screening on an eight-month-old baby. Impaired vision can be completely restored if eye diseases are treated early. Screening babies and children for eye problems is one of the foundations of primary eye care.
