This 21-year-old poor woman was able to give birth to her first son through caesarean section thanks to the free service offered at a private hospital in Mehsana district under the Chiranjeevi scheme. Due to the free services, pregnancy and childbirth-related deaths have been reduced significantly in Gujarat in the past two years.
