Somalia
Despite years of internal conflict and humanitarian crisis, Somalis have built a health system sustainable and flexible enough to provide care for thousands of people. The high level of community participation and the important role played by NGOs have been the keys in delivering health care in Somalia. Insecurity prevents international agencies and NGOs going to some areas, but local organizations have taken on the responsibility to keep health care centres running.
