Reducing malaria to help meet the Millennium Development Goals

The World malaria report 2009, launched in December, shows that reducing the impact of malaria would propel efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. About 3.3 billion people – half of the world's population – are at risk of malaria. There are 250 million malaria cases and nearly one million deaths per year. People living in the poorest countries are the most vulnerable.
