Remote remedies: healthcare in Badakshan Afghanistan

WHO staff trek to a remote Badakshan community
WHO/Chris Black

Many parts of Badakshan are accessible only by foot, and it can take up to two weeks to reach the provincial capital of Faizabad, where specialized health care is available. Two specific WHO-supported initiatives - mobile clinics and training female health workers for community clinics - are helping overcome these obstacles and improving the health of Badakshan's people.
