Making the vaccine at an affordable price for Africa
From 2002-2004, the Meningitis Vaccine Project looked for a vaccine manufacturer willing to make a conjugate vaccine at a price less than US$ 0.50 per dose. The manufacturer selected to produce the vaccine was the Serum Institute of India Ltd, a leading manufacturer of measles vaccine and diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTP) vaccines.
