Nationwide launch in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger planned for the end of 2010

The vaccine received WHO prequalification - the procedure which certifies that a vaccine meets international standards of quality, safety, and efficacy - in June 2010. The first countries to introduce the vaccine, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, scaled up activities relating to licensure, vaccine management, campaign planning and monitoring and management of adverse events following immunization. These actions were in preparation for the nationwide launches beginning in December 2010.
